Screaming Jets 1989 - 2006
Grant Walmsley is a founding member, lead guitarist and key songwriter of this iconic rock band from Newcastle Australia. His hit song 'Better' has become a certified classic recently polling as the most played Australian song in the history of the Triple M rock radio network. The single achieved sales exceeding Gold Status in 1991 and was nominated for Highest Selling Single at the ARIA awards of that year, (only beaten by a pop release that years by an actress from the TV soap, 'Neighbours').
Grant and Dave Gleeson formed their successful musical partnership with their band 'Aspect' in the early 1980's at the school they attended together, Marist Brothers Hamilton. By the end of the 80's they soon teamed up with Paul Woseen, who joined the band, which morphed into the Screaming Jets in 1989, and formed the long running and successful core of the group, releasing the albums All For One and Tear of Thought in 91' and 93' with other original members Richard Lara (also on guitar) and Brad Heaney on drums. The original line up of the group set off on World Tours after the huge success of these two albums. In 1993 Craig 'Rosie' Rosevear replaced Brad Heaney on drums due to illness.
